Lower Columbia CAP proudly adds Community Voice Mail (CVM) to its long list of helpful services to aid agencies that provide service to residents who may be homeless, in a state of transition or crisis, or perhaps are not in a position to afford their own telephone. CVM service helps agencies keep in contact with their hard-to-reach clients -- and their clients are better prepared to keep in touch with prospective employers, housing, other social service agencies, health care, schools, daycare, plus family or friends
Local social service organizations, government offices, health clinics, faith based organizations and others can partner with CAP to provide CVM to their respective clients. As the local CVM host, CAP provides on-site training and ongoing support to partner organizations, including how to enroll clients into CVM.
Once clients are enrolled, the agency's case managers can either call and leave messages for their CVM clients -- or they may record messages to be heard at three different levels:
-
Individual - messages specific to an individual, such as notices to complete some paperwork or for a job interview.
-
Group - a single message to be shared with all of their CVM clients, such as a holiday closure.
-
Community - a message broadcast to all CVM users enrolled at all CVM partner agencies, such as a notice about an unscheduled distribution of food or clothing.
If your organization would like to offer Community Voice Mail to its clients, please contact the CAP CVM Manager listed below.
Please note that there is no open enrollment for CVM. Residents interested in using CVM must contact an organization that is offering CVM to its clients.
This is information and support is for partner organizations that offer CVM to their clients.

CVM Feature Highlight: Email Notification
Statistics indicate that a high percentage of resident who use CVM also maintain a personal email account. The CVM Email Notification feature is helpful to both client and organization since it will aid in informing clients when they have a message. For example, when a caseworker for an organization records a message for a CVM client, the CVM system automatically sends a brief email to the client to inform them they have a message(s) in their CVM. The CVM email message does not include any private or confidential information - it simply informs the client that they have a message. When enrolling a client to use CVM, please ask if they use email and if they would like receive an email notification when they have CVM messages. If yes, simply enter the client's email address in the appropriate section of the CVM Client Intake/Outcome Form.
Custom CVM Promotional Material
We can create for your organization custom posters, brochures or other materials to help you promote CVM to your clients. Please contact the CVM Manager at Lower Columbia CAP for more details.
